Depends on what trick you want to play, learn to play pool first, the basic stuff

When I first started playing I played like a sausage. Finally, an old timer told me to "watch, listen, and lots of practice" is what I needed. You have to know the basics of English. Watching how other people executed thier shots really helped me out. It took a while and a lot of practice but I can now do tricks and have trophies to prove my skills. Videos are good too.

Jumps are easy: Aim way low on the cue ball and hit straight and a little hard

Mass+ shots are harder: hit down on the ball from on top and at a slight angle (hit down and on the right side for a righthand curve and vice versa for lefthand curves)

Hit just below the midline for a cue ball to stop upon impact and hit just above the midline for a cue ball to roll upon impact.

Finally, remember that trick shots won't improve your game as much as strategy. Once you get good enough to stop worrying out hitting a ball in, you are better off thinking three or four moves ahead in the game and making sure your cue ball ends up in a spot to make the next play. That's far more important that making each shot one by one.
